Backup & Disaster Recovery Policy
Applies to: 42 Support, 42 Ekonomi
We maintain backups to help protect Customer Data and recover from unexpected incidents.
- Backups are maintained as part of normal service operations.
- Backup copies may be retained for up to 90 days.
- Backups are intended for disaster recovery, not as a substitute for customer exports.
- Customers should regularly export any data they consider business-critical.
- Restoration is performed when reasonably necessary following operational incidents.
This summary is provided for convenience only. The legally binding terms are set out below.
Purpose
This Policy explains how 42 Scandinavia AB approaches backup, recovery and disaster preparedness for its Services.
It should be read together with the:
Objectives
Our objectives are to:
- reduce the risk of permanent data loss;
- support recovery following operational incidents;
- maintain business continuity;
- restore Services within a reasonable timeframe where technically possible.
Backups are one component of our overall resilience strategy and do not eliminate all risk.
Backup Scope
Backups may include information necessary to restore the operational state of the Services, including:
- Customer Data;
- application configuration;
- system configuration;
- databases;
- metadata required for restoration.
Not every component is necessarily backed up using the same method or schedule.
Backup Retention
Backup copies are normally retained for up to 90 days.
Older backup media is automatically removed as part of the normal backup lifecycle.
Backup retention periods may change over time to improve operational resilience or comply with legal requirements.
Material changes will be reflected in this Policy.
Disaster Recovery
If a significant operational incident occurs, 42 Scandinavia will use commercially reasonable efforts to restore affected Services.
Recovery activities may include:
- restoring systems from backups;
- rebuilding infrastructure;
- validating restored data;
- verifying service integrity before resuming normal operations.
Recovery priorities are determined based on the nature and severity of the incident.
Restoration Requests
Backups are maintained primarily for disaster recovery.
They are not intended to provide individual file recovery or historical archive services.
Where technically feasible, 42 Scandinavia may assist with customer-specific restoration requests.
Such assistance may:
- not always be possible;
- require professional services;
- be subject to additional charges.
Customer Responsibilities
Customers remain responsible for:
- exporting important information;
- maintaining any records they are legally required to preserve;
- verifying exported data;
- implementing their own business continuity measures where appropriate.
For 42 Ekonomi, Customers remain responsible for complying with Swedish bookkeeping and accounting legislation, including any statutory record-retention requirements.
Testing and Review
42 Scandinavia periodically reviews its backup and recovery procedures.
Procedures may be updated as infrastructure, technology and operational requirements evolve.
The absence of a formal recovery exercise does not imply that backups are unavailable or ineffective.
Limitations
While backups significantly reduce the risk of permanent data loss, no backup strategy can guarantee recovery under every circumstance.
Events beyond reasonable control—including corruption of backup media, failures affecting multiple systems, malicious attacks or force majeure events—may impact recovery.
42 Scandinavia therefore recommends that Customers maintain their own exports of information they consider business-critical.
Changes to this Policy
42 Scandinavia may update this Policy from time to time.
Material changes will normally be announced at least thirty (30) days before taking effect.
Administrative updates may take effect immediately.
